Surfguard

SURFGUARD
Purpose: SurfGuard is a national membership
and club administration application for all SLSA
affiliated organisations - although it is not
currently used in Queensland for some features.
SurfGuard uses a fully web-based interface and
enables users to manage all aspects of both
volunteer club, branch, state organisations as
well as affiliated professional organisations.
Key Features: Membership management,
patrol logging, assessment management, gear
and equipment inventory, mailing groups and
organisational management.
Audience: Anyone charged with the management
or administration of any SLSA affiliated organisation.
Registration: In order to grant/remove access
to the system we require a completed systems
access form, signed by either the club president
or the secretary. You can find the form in the
Admin and Resources section of the SLSA website (http://www.slsa.com.au). It’s located in SLSA
Forms > Information Technology > F049 IT Systems
access request form. Please fill that in and post
or fax it back to us as per the details below
and we’ll update the system,

SurfCom

SURFCOM MANAGEMENT
Purpose: This Surfcom management
system assists in the coordination of
patrols and support services through
Surfcoms (surf command radio bases). It
features a web based system through
which Surfcom operators enter patrol/
support service information.
Key Feature: Full logging of volunteer
patrols, lifeguards, incidents and allied
support services. Tracking and analysis of
surf lifesaving nationally. Coordination of
rescues across all SLSA affiliated
organisations and support services.
Audience: Branch, state and national surf
lifesaving coordinators at both a volunteer
and professional level.
Registration: Required.
Navigation: The Quick Action toolbar (the
red buttons on the left of the screen) are
used for the logging and monitoring of
surf lifesaving entities. External functions
such as SurfGuard and the Bureau of
Meteorology are linked to from the blue
buttons at the top of the screen. The core
components and administrative functions
of SurfCom are accessed from the menu
bar.

Payment Gateway

PAYMENT GATEWAY
Purpose: The SLSA Payment Gateway enables
individuals to make payments by credit card
(Visa or MasterCard) to any SLSA affiliated entity
that has signed up for the gateway.
Key Features: Membership fee payment,
carnival entry fee, course fee, donation, clothing
payment, merchandise payment.
Audience: The website is aimed at anyone who
needs to make a payment to an SLSA affiliated
surf club that has signed up for the gateway.
Registration: Not required.
Navigation: Enter club or service name, select
transaction type, enter your name and a
meaningful description of the payment you’re
about to make (“Family Membership Fee” or “2x
Size XL Patrol Shirts” etc), your name, a phone
number and an email address. The club then
receive those funds directly into their back
account and an official receipt is emailed to a
club nominated email address.

Beach Safe

BEACHSAFE
Purpose: The Beachsafe site is designed
to help promote safety and awareness to
the public at and around Australian
beaches and adjacent foreshores and to
enable the public to safely explore and
enjoy the many beaches that exist along
Australia’s coastline.
Key Features: Real-time information
about the weather and surf conditions,
potential hazards which you should be
aware of and amenities (including patrol
information) and parking details for your
visit to a beach.
Audience: The public, tourists and
anyone wanting reliable information on
Australian beaches.
Registration: Not required.
Navigation: Main sections are Official
Gear and Academy/Training. Sub-sections
include Surf Rescue Apparel, Surf Rescue
Equipment, Nippers and Awards.

Lifesaving Online

LIFESAVING ONLINE
Purpose: Lifesaving Online enables both
the Public and surf club members
(excluding those members of clubs based
in Queensland) to maintain personal
information online to ensure it is correct in
the SLSA member database, SurfGuard.
You may also use Lifesaving Online to
renew SLSA surf club memberships or
request membership at a new SLSA
organisation.

SLS Website

SLS Website
Purpose: The SLS Website is a new
development designed to reflect the
latest view of Surf Life Saving to a
wider audience. The project was
established to design and manage the
change of the current SLSA website
into a contemporary, outwardly facing
public experience.
Key Features: Daily updates from the
SLS world; News, Views, Events
Audience: The Australian General Public,
international visitors, people from all
walks of life who maybe seeking information
and/or wanting to share in the Australian
experience that is Surf Life Saving.
